THE TEAM NEWS
WESTERN STORM
- Western Storm got their 2019 Super League campaign off to a strong start with last year’s third-placed side earning a comfortable victory over Loughborough Lightning in their opening contest.
- The Storm were winners by seven wickets as they reached their target of 126 with three overs to spare thanks to a solid knock by England captain Heather Knight as she hit 41 from 39 balls.
- Anya Shrubsole missed the season-opener but is back in contention here and will be hoping to earn a spot in the side although there is no place for the injured Amara Carr and she is replaced by Nat Wraith in the extended squad.
LANCASHIRE THUNDER
- Lancashire Thunder made it back-to-back defeats to start their Super League season as they went down to last year’s champions Surrey Stars in comprehensive fashion despite a superb display by Harmanpreet Kaur.
- Kaur finished with an unbeaten 58 from 47 balls which included six 4s and three 6s but her efforts proved in vain as Surrey were able to chase down the 121 that they required to condemn Lancashire to an eight-wicket loss.
- South African Sune Luus has yet to get going at the top of the order whilst she has also yet to bowl so far but with the bowling unit struggling in both games so far, changes could be afoot in that department.
THE PREDICTION
Western Storm got off to a strong start in their opening game and will be confident of making it back-to-back wins as they host Lancashire Thunder. The visitors have lost both of their games so far and have been soundly beaten in those games. The Storm looked good in their opening game and their batting line-up could get on top of the Thunder who have struggled with the ball so far which should mean a home win.
