THE TEAM NEWS

NORTHERN BRAVE

  • Northern Brave made it two straight Super Smash wins last time out, beating Auckland Aces by six wickets after bowling them out for just 92, before reaching their victory target after 15.1 overs.
  • Spin bowler Ish Sodhi’s figures were particularly incredible for Northern Brave, conceding just five runs from his four overs with two wickets taken, whilst Frederick Walker picked up four wickets of his own.

CANTERBURY KINGS

  • Like Northern Brave, Canterbury Kings come into this match on the back of two successive victories, with their latest coming against reigning champions Wellington Firebirds, whom they beat by six wickets.
  • Opener Chad Bowes got his side off to the perfect start against the Firebirds with 62 and he is likely to play a key role once again in this one, whilst Matt Henry continues to prove a vital cog in the Kings’ bowling engine, having taken three wickets across his last two games.

THE PREDICTION

An exciting contest is on the horizon here between Northern Brave and Canterbury Kings with both teams in good form and full of confidence. This likely to prove a battle between the quality bowling attack of the Brave, who have taken 20 wickets across their last two Super Smash fixtures and the heavy batting firepower of the Kings. The forecast for this match appears to favour the bowling team and the toss will likely be crucial as well, with DLS potentially coming into play should rain disrupt the start of play as it could. With that in mind, the likes of Sodhi in particularly may well play a key role and backing Northern Brave is well worth considering, especially if they win the toss.
