THE TEAM NEWS
NORTHERN BRAVE
- Northern Brave are yet to pick up victory in this season’s Super Smash so far, having suffered a no result followed up by defeat at the hands of Otago Volts last time out.
- An improvement will be required by the Brave’s middle order if they are to get that first win here, with opener Katene Clarke’s score of 49 the highest by a margin of 25 against the Volts.
AUCKLAND ACES
- Having sat and watched the rest of the Super Smash sides ever since the competition began back on November 26th, Auckland Aces are finally set to take the field and compete in their first group match here in Hamilton.
- The Aces are significantly boosted by presence of their international players with the likes of opener Martin Guptill alongside bowlers Lockie Ferguson and Kyle Jamieson all potentially featuring for them against the Brave.
THE PREDICTION
Losing to an Otago Volts side who have previously lost their last seven T20 matches was a very poor result for the Brave and they’ll be desperate to bounce back here. The big question for Auckland Aces is whether they show any rust out at the crease and in the field, having waited so long to get out and play in the Super Smash. However, the availability of their Black Caps helps offset that worry with many of them coming off the back of having played plenty of international cricket in recent months. With that in mind, consider backing the Aces to take advantage of a North Brave team likely low on confidence following that Otago defeat and pick up victory here in their opening Super Smash fixture.
