THE LOWDOWN
PESHAWAR ZALMI
- Peshawar Zalmi will be reeling off the back of a thumping defeat at the hands of Islamabad United at the weekend, which saw Peshawar’s score of 168/6 chased down in under 16 overs.
- Captain Wahab Riaz returned to the side following his Covid-19 enforced isolation and impressed economically with the ball despite not taking a wicket, but the Zalmi must improve their potency with the ball as a unit, having taken just the one wicket against Islamabad.
LAHORE QALANDARS
- Lahore Qalandars bounced back well from defeat against Multan Sultans by comfortably overcoming Karachi Kings by six wickets after chasing down 171 for the loss of just four wickets.
- Fakhar Zaman starred for Lahore, the Pakistan international batter striking an excellent hundred from just 60 balls, backing up his 76 against Multan just a day earlier.
THE PREDICTION
Peshawar Zalmi’s bowling has proven a weak spot across the tournament so far and Lahore Qalandars may be set to capitalise. After conceding 190 runs against Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar were relatively toothless with the ball against Islamabad United and this does not bode well for them against the likes of Fakhar, who is in such good form. Combine that with the more dangerous strike bowling attack of the Qalandars and it would be no surprise to see Lahore continue their upward trajectory with a second straight PSL victory here.
