KARACHI KINGS
- Karachi Kings remain winless after three matches played so far in the 2022 PSL and are under significant pressure to get their first points on the board here against a side on the back of two straight defeats.
- England T20i bowler Chris Jordan may be set to feature for the Kings depending on whether he completes his mandatory period of isolation in time after recently travelling from the West Indies, where he was on international duty with England.
PESHAWAR ZALMI
- Peshawar Zalmi were unable to chase down the 200 runs needed for victory over Lahore Qalandars this past Wednesday, ultimately finishing on 170/9 after a hugely expensive bowling performance in the latter overs of the Lahore innings cost them.
- Like Karachi with Jordan, Peshawar will be hoping that England all-rounder Liam Livingstone completes his mandatory quarantine in time for him to play this match as his presence would prove a huge boost to the Zalmi with both bat and ball.
THE PREDICTION
Most worrying for Karachi Kings heading into this match is their inability to put big scores on the board at present. Their opening three games have seen them put up totals of 124/5, 113 and 170/7, all batting first. In order to be successful in the PSL this season, they need to be getting as close to 200 as possible regularly, if not exceeding that figure, which doesn’t look likely should captain Babar Azam be dismissed early on by the opposition. Peshawar Zalmi in comparison, did manage a successful chase of 191 earlier in the competition against Quetta Gladiators, so they have at least proven capable of delivering with the bat, albeit not consistently. Against an out-of-sorts Kings’ side, Peshawar Zalmi are expected to rediscover their potency with the bat and should have enough firepower within their ranks to overcome Babar’s men.
