THE TEAM NEWS

BANGLADESH

  • Bangladesh had Pakistan on the ropes at 24/4 at one stage during the first T20i, however could not ram home the advantage, leaving the tourists able to chase down their target of 128 with four wickets and four balls to spare.
  • The top order disappointed for the Tigers batting first, with their openers each scoring just 1 run and number three batter Najmul Hossain Shanto dismissed for 7, so this really must be improved upon if they are to succeed in the second T20i.
  • The absences of experienced batting campaigners such as Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan was clearly very much felt within the Bangladesh side, however the likes of Afif Hossain showed stability in the middle order and will surely be persisted with here.

PAKISTAN

  • Restricting their opponents to just 127/7 was a good effort from Pakistan with the ball and it will be particularly pleasing for them that it was their lower middle order that saw them through in the run chase, rather than the more obvious names.
  • Both Mohammad Rizwan and captain Babar Azam were dismissed early on, leading to players such as Khushdil Shah and Mohammad Nawaz to guide their side home in the latter overs.
  • Both Khushdil and Nawaz will surely be given another opportunity to impress in this second T20i, alongside top order batter Haider Ali despite his 0 in the first T20i as Pakistan look to continue the process of integrating fresh faces into their 20 over unit.

THE PREDICTION

Another fairly low scoring encounter is on the cards in this second T20i of the series as the two nations look horns on what should be another bowler friendly pitch in Mirpur. Neither side will have had much time to reflect on the first T20i with this encounter coming only a day later. Whilst both contain bowling units equally as potent in these conditions, once again it is the superior depth in quality of the Pakistan batting order that is expected to prove the difference here and lead the tourists to a second victory over Bangladesh in as many days.
