SYDNEY THUNDER

• Sydney Thunder made hard work of their final group match against Melbourne Stars, but ultimately did enough to triumph by three wickets, sealing in their place in the play-offs and setting up this eliminator.
• Having had a disappointing spell with the Thunder so far this season, the eliminator would be the perfect time for David Warner to step up and play a match-winning knock at the top of the order.

BRISBANE HEAT

• Despite losing their last league game by the narrowest of margins against Hobart Hurricanes, two runs to be precise, Brisbane Heat still managed to qualify for the play-offs, although they’ll have to come through them the hard way to win the trophy.
• The Heat will need their international stars to step up if they are to come out on top here, specifically the likes of Usman Khawaja and Michael Neser, who took four wickets last time out against Hobart.

THE PREDICTION

This is likely to prove an edgy encounter with both teams knowing that the loser is eliminated from this season’s BBL with immediate effect. Sydney Thunder showed good character to overcome the Stars on Wednesday, but their batting has not produced the big scores they will have hoped for as of late. Brisbane Heat meanwhile can call upon plenty of depth down the order and when you combine that with their bowling experience, then it makes them worth backing to advance over Sydney Thunder, even if they are playing away from home.
