THE PREDICTION
It’s fair to say that both England and India have been by far the best two sides in this Men’s Under-19 World Cup, each winning their respective five matches played and a thrilling final should be on the cards. For India, this is their fourth successive Men’s Under-19 World Cup final, whilst England have not won the tournament since all the way back in 1998. Both teams boast some extremely talented batters. For India, Yash Dhull is coming off the back of a magnificent run-a-ball 110 in their semi-final triumph over Australia, whilst England skipper Tom Prest as well as Warwickshire’s Jacob Bethell have hugely impressed across the campaign so far. However, there is a nagging feeling that India may contain slightly more of an X-Factor among their bowling unit, having taken all 50 wickets available to them across the competition, although England have just one wicket less and are renowned for bowling out Bangladesh for just 97 back in the Group Stage.
This match could realistically go either way and may come down to extremely fine margins, whether that be a dropped catch or an umpire’s call. India though, were the favourites to lift the trophy back when the competition commenced and have been totally dominant throughout every fixture they have played, never once looking like losing. Therefore, back them to finish the job here and edge past England in what will likely be a nerve-racking final.
