Aston Villa vs Newcastle prediction

Unai Emery and his Aston Villa side reached the semi-finals last season but will hope to go a couple steps better this time around. The Villans most recently managed to earn themselves a hard-fought but much-needed 1-0 defeat of Brighton and Hove Albion, courtesy of an 86th minute own goal scored by Jack Hinshelwood.

They now face a Newcastle United side that did manage to edge themselves back into the top-half of the Premier League table ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. The Magpies went to relegation-threatened Tottenham Hotspur and won by two goals to one with strikes from Malick Thiaw and Jacob Ramsey.

Newcastle have been inconsistent, and actually quite dull, throughout this season but a cup tie could spark their chaotic best, and Villa, with home advantage, will always be a threat so it could be quite a fun watch for the neutral at Villa Park on Saturday.
