The Dutchman followed up his upset of Alex de Minaur with a 3-6 7-6 4-6 7-6 6-3 success over the Belgian 31st seed to set up a first ever showdown with Arthur Gea.

The Frenchman also needed five sets to edge out home underdog Michael Zheng and leaves us with an unexpected meeting between the world number 70 and the world number 87 for a place in the last eight.

This is likely to go beyond three sets and it’s a hard one to call. Botic has the edge in terms of power, it’s just about channelling it consistently and we would lean towards the Dutchman if looking at the outright winner market.
