THE TEAM NEWS
SALFORD RED DEVILS
Head Coach: Ian Watson
Squad: Bibby, Burke, Dudson, Evalds, Griffin, Hastings, Inu, Jones, Lussick, Lui, Olpherts, McCarthy, Mossop, Murray, Nakubuwai, Sa’u, Tomkins, Walker, Welham
Unavailable: Ed Chamberlain, Mark Flanagan, Ken Sio
- Salford produced a late fightback against Hull FC but ultimately fell just short despite their opponents ending the game a man down with the Red Devils now failing to win any of their last four games in all competitions.
- The Red Devils will have Krisnan Inu available after he was on the receiving end of the tackle that saw Josh Griffin sent off last week but his place in the side is not guaranteed with Junior Sa’u returning to the squad following the conclusion of his loan spell at Wakefield.
- Derrell Olpherts is another option to come into the three-quarters whilst Ben Nakubuwai is also brought back into the squad with the Red Devils with Pauli Pauli out after returning to Wakefield whilst Greg Johnson is left out of the 19 along with the injured Ken Sio.
WAKEFIELD TRINITY
Head Coach: Chris Chester
Squad: Brough, Croft, Crowther, England, Gwaze, Hampshire, Hirst, Jones-Bishop, Kershaw, King, Kirmond, Kopczak, Lyne, Miller, Pauli, Randell, Reynolds, Tanginoa, Wood
Unavailable: Craig Huby, Tom Johnstone, Joe Arundel, Tinirau Arona, Max Jowitt, Mason Caton-Brown, David Fifita, Matty Ashurst, James Batchelor
- Wakefield's poor run of form continued as they were kept scoreless at home to Leeds as Trinity failed to adapt to the shocking conditions which was Trinity’s four consecutive loss in all competitions.
- Trinity were hoping to have David Fifita back this week but he is once again unavailable whilst Matty Ashurst and James Batchelor are also out after they picked up back and hamstring injuries respectively last week.
- Junior Sa’u has returned to Salford but they can call upon Pauli Pauli after their loan swap deal ended whilst Danny Kirmond has also overcome injury to take his place in the 19-man squad alongside Ben Reynolds and youngster Titus Gwaze who could make his debut.
THE PREDICTION
Both Salford and Wakefield have struggled for wins recently which sees them desperate for a win here but the team news and weather will be key with Wakefield failing to play well in the rain last week. Both teams are struggling defensively and it could well come down to the halves to decide the game. Salford showed some good character to fight back against Hull last week whilst Wakefield went down meekly against Leeds and another poor start could see Salford get back to winning ways.
