THE TEAM NEWS

HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS

Head Coach: Simon Woolford

Squad: Clough, English, Ferguson, Frawley, Gaskell, Hewitt, Ikahihifo, Leeming, Matagi, McIntosh, Mellor, Murphy, O’Brien, Roberts, Russell, I. Senior, L. Senior, Ta’ai, Turner

Unavailable: Leroy Cudjoe, Adam Walne, Akuila Uate, Jermaine McGillvary, Joe Wardle, Michael Lawrence, Jake Wardle

  • Huddersfield were on the end of a hammering by league leaders St. Helens as they were reduced to just a penalty goal whilst conceding 38 in the process with that loss keeping them in relegation trouble.

  • Joe Wardle is set for six weeks on the sidelines with a broken thumb with Huddersfield's injury list continuing to grow by the week with Michael Lawrence and Jake Wardle also dropping out of the 19-man squad.

  • Oliver Roberts returns after missing the last few games through injury whilst Dale Ferguson receives a surprise call-up after sitting out most of the season and they are joined by Louis Senior to complete the squad.

WIGAN WARRIORS

Head Coach: Adrian Lam

Squad: Bullock, Burgess, Clubb, Escaré, Farrell, Gildart, Greenwood, Hankinson, Hardaker, Isa, Leuluai, Marshall, Navarrete, O’Loughlin, Partington, Powell, Sammut, Smithies, Williams

Unavailable: Gabe Hamlin, Dom Manfredi, Tom Davies, Ben Flower, Taulima Tautai, Dan Sarginson

  • Wigan secured an important win as they battled hard to see off Leeds at Headingley last week and can now begin to look up the table with the Warriors just two points away from fifth-placed Castleford.

  • Ben Flower and Zak Hardaker have both been cleared of serious injury and have been pushing to make their returns to Wigan's squad this week but only the latter has managed to recover in time.

  • Hardaker is joined by Joe Greenwood who has overcome his rib injury but there is no place for Dan Sarginson this week as he sits out with a couple of niggles whilst Liam Byrne is the other man to make way.

THE PREDICTION

Huddersfield were heavily defeated last week and will now be looking nervously over their shoulder as the teams at the bottom begin to close the gap on them. This is now a big game for both teams with Wigan eyeing the top 5 and is likely to be a nervy affair that could go either way. The Giants have shown they are capable of producing some big displays but they seem few and far between and it is difficult to predict when they will turn up. This looks like a game they can win but the away side will be a on a high after last week’s battling win and can make it three wins in a row.
