THE TEAM NEWS

CASTLEFORD TIGERS

Head Coach: Daryl Powell

Squad: Aston, Blair, Clare, Clark, Clarkson, Cook, Eden, Maher, Massey, Mata’utia, McMeeken, McShane, Millington, Milner, Minikin, Rankin, Smith, Trueman, Watts

Unavailable: Luke Gale, Jamie Ellis, Alex Foster, Oliver Holmes, Junior Moors, Michael Shenton, Jesse Sene-Lefao

  • Castleford will hope the week off has done them some good as they look to regroup following a desperate run of form recently and that will start when they host Huddersfield at the Jungle.

  • The Tigers might opt to shake things up in the halves with Jordan Rankin pushing for a promotion from the bench in place of Cory Aston, with the diminutive halfback struggling defensively in his last few matches.

  • Daryl Powell makes just the one change from the squad he named a fortnight ago for the defeat against St. Helens with Nathan Massey back in contention following a minor injury and he replaces Tuoyo Egodo.

HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS

Head Coach: Simon Woolford

Squad: Clough, English, Gaskell, Hewitt, Lawrence, Leeming, Matagi, McGillvary, McIntosh, Mellor, Murphy, O’Brien, Russell, I. Senior, L. Senior, Ta’ai, Turner, Ja. Wardle, Jo. Wardle

Unavailable: Leroy Cudjoe, Adam Walne, Akuila Uate, Matt Frawley, Oliver Roberts, Sebastine Ikahihifo

  • Huddersfield will come into this game full of confidence after a season-best display against Hull FC in their last fixture which saw them post 55 points whilst also managing to prevent Hull from crossing the whitewash.

  • The Giants are still struggling with injuries but their young side did a great job last time out and look set to be trusted again here with head coach Simon Woolford naming an unchanged squad.

  • Lee Gaskell and Oliver Russell appeared very comfortable in the halves against Hull and that places Matt Frawley’s position in the side under threat with the Australian having it all to do to get back into the team when he returns to full fitness.

THE PREDICTION

Castleford are struggling to string two decent performances together as they were outclassed by St. Helens in their last game and their lack of form will result in Huddersfield smelling blood. The Giants were sensational in their last game and they can build on that here to make it three wins in a row. The Giants will need to find some consistency to their game but they have the blueprint to work with now following the demolition job on Hull. Their young side may find it difficult to replicate that but with Castleford struggling, they can take advantage to earn a hard-fought win here.
