THE TEAM NEWS

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS

Head Coach: Wayne Bennett

Starting 13: Johnston, Allan, Turner, Gagai, Graham, Walker, Reynolds, G. Burgess, Cook, T. Burgess, Sutton, S. Burgess, Murray – Interchanges: Tatola, Nicholls, Lowe, Knight – Reserves: Tracey, Sironen

Unavailable: Dean Britt, Kurt Dillon, Adam Doueihi, Greg Inglis, Braidon Burns, Jacob Gagan

  • South Sydney went down to their first defeat of the season as they suffered a shock loss in golden point against Manly last week with the Rabbitohs unable to find a way to win in a low-scoring contest.

  • Souths will be hoping to have Greg Inglis back after he missed his second successive game in last weekend's fixture but it has again come too soon for the influential centre.

  • His replacement Jacob Gagan is also out this week after he suffered a head knock so there will be another reshuffle to the side with Kyle Turner named in the centres and Liam Knight back on the bench after a ban.

NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS

Head Coach: Stephen Kearney

Starting 13: Tuivasa-Sheck, Fusitu’a, Hiku, Kata, Maumalo, Harris-Tavita, Green, Paasi, Tevaga, Ah Mau, Blair, Harris, Burr – Interchanges: Lisone, Afoa, Papali’i, Sao – Reserves: Beale, Luke

Unavailable: Nathaniel Roache

  • New Zealand Warriors were too good for Gold Coast last week as they dominated for large spells, with home comforts evident for the Warriors. They will need to start picking up wins on the road if they are to make the finals.

  • The Warriors could have been without Jazz Tevaga this week after he was cited for dangerous contact against the Titans but he was found not guilty and is named at hooker for this game.

  • Issac Luke has been named amongst the reserves and could be a late inclusion if he can prove his fitness and, with Karl Lawton already dropping out of the extended squad, the signs are good for the rake.

THE PREDICTION

South Sydney will be looking to put last week's disappointing loss behind them as they host New Zealand Warriors. The Warriors got back to winning ways last week as they saw off the Titans but will find it difficult to win on the road with the Rabbitohs able to bounce back here. The Kiwi outfit must find a way to win away from home if they are to earn themselves a spot in the finals this year, and cannot solely rely on home form. However, with Souths on the end of a defeat last week, they are likely to go up a gear on what they produced in their previous game and will claim the win.
