Anastasija Sevastova’s comeback after 14 months out continues in Morocco. Her run to the Madrid Open caught plenty by surprise, as she beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Jelena Ostapenko before a humbling double bagel defeat to Diana Shnaider in the third-round. Sevastova then lost to Lucia Bronetti in the first-round of the Italian Open and will want to get back on track with a win here.
Yasmine Kabbaj is ranked 810 in the world but was awarded a wildcard for her home event. Her last event was a W35 in Bastad where she lost in three sets to Jazmin Orteni. She has picked up three W15 titles in her career with the latest being in October of last year as she won an ITF event in Heraklion.
Sevastova is still making her way back after such a long time out and a serious Achilles injury but she should still be making the next round here with a comfortable victory.
