Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady: Can the Palestinian standout earn redemption in his sophomore UFC appearance?

Earning his shot at the big leagues with a win over Cage Warriors lightweight champion, George Hardwick, on the Contender Series, things did not go according to plan for Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady (15-4) in his UFC debut. The "Pride of Palestine" acquitted himself commendably in a fun brawl with Loik Radzhabanov on the prelims of UFC Fight Night 238, only to find himself on the wrong end of a third round knockout loss where he ate a bunch of brutal extra strikes for his trouble.

Matheus Camilo: "Jaguar" returns looking to right the wrongs of a disappointing debut

Despite seemingly locking up a submission early, Matheus Camilo (9-3) didn't have much to offer Gabe Green in his sole UFC appearance to date. "Jaguar" got slammed and eventually choked out by the returning Green, who hadn't fought in over a year and was coming off back to back KO defeats. While he's undoubtedly raw at 24, it's hardly a promising sign of things to come. However, Camilo has still fought decent levels on competition on the regional scene for this stage in his career and has six finishes to his name to boot.

Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady vs Matheus Camilo prediction

Considering that both men bring a combined promotional record of 0-2 with them to the cage, this bout's fairly prominent placement on the prelims is a bit of a head scratcher.

The pair didn't exactly set the world alight in their debuts either; Al-Selwady got absolutely nuked by Loik Radzhahabov, while Camilo got strangled by Gabe Green in short order. Those contests also line up with the fighter's respective weaknesses on paper; Al-Selwady has been KO'd in every single one of his four defeats, while all three of Camilo's losses have come by submission.

At a push, "Pride of Palestine" should probably take this one. In addition to his excellent striking, Al-Selwady just looks to be the slightly more well-rounded martial artist. He looked excellent on the Contender Series against a quality fighter in England's George Hardwick, and there's even an argument to be made that he was on his way to winning against Loik Radzhabanov before he ended up getting KO'd.

Unless his chin is completely destroyed in the aftermath of four career knockout losses, the pick is Al-Selwady by decision.

Prediction: Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady to win by decision
