World number 70 Alison Van Uytvanck won both of her matches in three sets at the inaugural United Cup to start her 2023 season off well but there is certainly some ay to go before the combative Belgian finds her best form. Another three-set victory over Magda Linette, who also impressed at the United Cup, is her best of the year so far and it makes her the slight favourite against world number 89 Xinyu Wang in this first tour meeting between the two. The Chinese youngster started last season in serious form before falling away but she certainly remains a future prospect at 21 years old. Xinyu coming through the first round as a lucky loser to win her first round match in straight sets will be a tough momentum for Van Uytvanck to stop but the Belgian can be backed to earn at least a set here after three gritty wins so far.
