The 25-year-old overcame Hubert Hurkacz in two tight tiebreaks to give the USA an unassailable lead and he has lost just once this tournament to Great Britain’s Cam Norrie in three sets in the Sydney City Final. 26-year-old Matteo Berrettini has also lost one of his four singles matches this week after Stefanos Tsitsipas came back from a set down to give Greece some hope before Italy rallied well to win their semi-final 4-1.
