27-year-old Tallon Griekspoor came back from a set down to beat Christopher Eubanks on Monday, moving up to a career-high of 21st in the ATP live world rankings. The Dutchman started 2023 off with an excellent maiden title at the Pune Open and he backed that up on home soil at ‘s-Hertogenbosch in June before finishing runner-up at the Washington 500. World number 28 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina seems to lack the consistency for a title run right now as he still seeks his maiden trophy but performances like Monday’s three-set victory over Ben Shelton are proof of what he can do on any given day. The 24-year-old reached the semi-finals of the Canada Masters in August with some blistering tennis but he remains one of the harder players to back confidently. This is very much a match of consistent hitting versus intermittent star power. Griekspoor beat the Spaniard in four sets at Roland-Garros last season and backing him to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance looks the sensible option here.
