Former world number one Simona Halep beat 16th-seed Coco Gauff in straight sets on Sunday for one of the best wins since her tour comeback late last year. The current world number 26 won her first title in two years at Melbourne 1 back in January before a run to the round of 16 at the Australian Open was ended by an inspired Alize Cornet. Halep is a two-time Grand Slam champion from Roland-Garros in 2018 and Wimbledon in 2019 with six Masters titles including Indian Wells in 2015.
