World number 33 Sebastian Korda laid down a huge marker for his 2023 season by beating Jannik Sinner in straight sets on Friday, backing-up two impressive results over Andy Murray and Roberto Bautista Agut. After a largely frustrating 2022 the American looks ready to break back into the top 30 and beyond but this remains a tough semi-final against the definitive ‘tricky’ player on tour in world number 36 Yoshihito Nishioka. The 27-year-old is in the form of his career so far after recent success at the Korea Open late last year and after stunning rising star Holger Rune in the first round he has looked remarkably composed in Adelaide. Korda has beaten Nishioka in straight sets twice before but he will do well not to underestimate the Japanese number one in his current guise. Back Korda to edge this outright, with three sets a distinct possibility.
