World number 43 Sebastian Baez received a bye to the round of 16 at the Pune Open but the Argentine could probably do with the extra round’s practice after a poor end to 2022. The 22-year-old did start last year strongly, though, with an impressive turn at the Australian Open and a maiden ATP title won at the Estoril Open on clay but world number 62 Pedro Martinez also claimed his first ATP title last season – and at Baez’s expense – at the Chile Open. 25-year-old Martinez came back from a set down to beat Ramkumar Ramanathan on Tuesday and, whilst this round of 16 match is up for grabs, the Spaniard looks the best bet to back to earn at least a set with a match in his legs.
