World number 26 Roberto Bautista Agut received a bye to the round of 16 at Adelaide 2 after a middling campaign last week saw him stun Andrey Rublev in the first round before losing to eventual runner-up Sebastian Korda. The 34-year-old usually starts the season well, with two of his last three ATP titles coming on the early hardcourt swing in recent years, and he looks the solid favourite to make the quarter-finals in this unlikely clash with Robin Haase. World number 257 Haase should not be underestimated, though, after a charmed week so far has seen him play the role of alternate and lucky loser before coming back from a set down to stun in-form Benjamin Bonzi in the first round. The 35-year-old Dutchman is certainly in the twilight of his long career but he occasionally pops up with a big performance or two to throw the cat amongst the pigeons. RBA is one of the more un-shakeable players out there, though, and with Haase’s element of surprise now gone the Spaniard can be backed to win in straight sets here.
