24-year-old Pedro Martinez set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 47th this week after winning the Chile Open late last month, his first career ATP title. The Spaniard will be eager to get back on the clay next month but after a first round victory at Indian Wells last time out he has a solid chance at coming through against a currently below-par Jan-Lennard Struff. World number 56 Struff beat John Isner at the ATP Cup at the start of the season but he has since lost five matches in a row on tour. The German beat Martinez in straight sets at the US Open back in 2020 but the form tides have turned somewhat in favour of the Spaniard and he can be backed to win at least a set here as the likelier of two capable winners, if not outright.
