World number 34 Fabio Fognini cam back from a set down to win the deciding tiebreak against an impressive Taro Daniel on Friday. The 34-year-old recently reached the semi-finals of the Rio Open before losing to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz but he won the doubles tournament alongside Simone Bolelli in a partnership that looks set to be fruitful over the clay swing. Fognini’s most recent of nine career ATP titles came at the Monte-Carlo Open in 2019.
