THE PREDICTION
World number six Maria Sakkari finally beat her demons to the punch with a joyous run to the Guadalajara Masters title on Sunday, beating Caroline Dolehide in the final. The 28-year-old did not drop a set all week in Mexico, backed by a raucous home-from-home support after she finished runner-up there last season, just three weeks after suggesting she may take a break from the sport following a horrendous run of form. It will be fascinating to see what Sakkari can achieve from here but first and foremost it will be a pleasure to see her play without equal parts hope and dread on court having finally won her second WTA titles four years on from her first. World number 331 Misaki Doi stunned Petra Martic in straight sets on Tuesday after qualifying but the 32-year-old looks well short of the level required to beat Sakkari. There is some trepidation around this match as Sakkari could be forgiven for starting choppily but it is likelier that the Greek plays with gusto this week. Back Sakkari to win in straight sets but consider leaving this one out of an accumulator.
