World number 48 Miomir Kecmanovic beat Jack Sock in impressive fashion late on Thursday to continue his excellent 2022 form. Kecmanovic won his only ATP title to date at the 2020 Kitzbuhel Open.
FELIX AUGER-ALIASSIME
World number nine Felix Auger-Aliassime was shocked in the second round of Indian Wells by an inspired performance from Botic van de Zandschulp, who pounced at all the right times over three sets. Still, the Canadian can count 2022 a huge success so far as he finally won his first ATP title at the ninth time of asking, beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final of the Rotterdam Open last month. The 21-year-old also won the ATP Cup with Team Canada before a stunning run to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, where he lost to Daniil Medvedev from two sets up.

We can call Felix Auger-Aliassime’s loss to Botic van de Zandschulp last time out a blip but this is an even tougher opener for the Canadian now. Miomir Kecmanovic beat Van de Zandschulp in straight sets the round after the Dutchman stunned Auger-Aliassime and it took eventual Indian Wells champion Taylor Fritz three sets to oust the Serb in the quarter-finals last Friday. Three sets seems likely with the confidence and momentum favouring Kecmanovic and backing him to win at least one of them actually looks the more reasonable way this match slides.
