World number 12 Cam Norrie endured some impressive stuff from Jiri Lehecka to beat the Czech in three sets on Tuesday. The 27-year-old spent much of his childhood in New Zealand and he was welcomed well by home fans in Auckland, where he reached his maiden ATP tour final back in 2019. World number 60 Marcos Giron is almost always in the conversation at this stage of an ATP 250 event and he improved upon a choppy opener against Federico Coria with a great straight-sets victory over fellow American J.J. Wolf. The pair share a 1-1 head-to-head record but Giron took their most recent clash late last year at the Vienna Open in one of the Brit’s ropier periods of an incredible 2022. Norrie should be able to come through this test in two sets but all three of his matches this season have gone to three, so back the second seed to win outright.
