20-year-old Iga Swiatek confirmed her place as the incoming world number one once the new WTA rankings are announced after a commanding straight-sets victory over Viktorija Golubic on Friday. The Pole has won back-to-back Masters events at the Qatar Open and Indian Wells to take a now 12-match winning streak into the third round of the Miami Open. Swiatek raced to the Roland-Garros title in 2020 without dropping a set in a similarly ruthless streak of form.

Madison Brengle has impressed at the Miami Open but incoming world number one Iga Swiatek is the toughest draw possible right now. The 20-year-old conceded just two games to Viktorija Golubic on Friday and with the pressure of taking the vacant world number one spot behind her she can focus on extending this 12-match winning streak ever further. The Pole won in straight sets in their only previous meeting at last season’s Adelaide International and backing her to win in two here, with less than six games conceded, looks a reasonable option.
