26-year-old Mackenzie McDonald was unfortunate to meet Carlos Alcaraz in the second round of Indian Wells last time out after an impressive straight-sets victory over Marton Fucsovics. The American reached a first ATP tour final last season at the Washington Open where he finished runner-up to Jannik Sinner and there certainly looks to have been a shift in self-belief over the last year or so. Wins elsewhere this season over Nikoloz Basilashvili, Aslan Karatsev and Filip Krajinovic suggest he is the favourite in this first meeting with world number 64 Dominik Koepfer as the 27-year-old has played just five matches this season so far, losing three of them. Koepfer found some excellent form at the Paris Masters late last year but it might take a return to his favoured clay next month to get back up to speed. Take McDonald to win outright here.
