World number 76 Lorenzo Musetti beat number 92 Alexei Popyrin in straight sets just last week at a Challenger event in Phoenix and this immediate rematch is unlikely to differ that much. 22-year-old Popyrin won his first ATP title last season at the Singapore Open but despite some promising flutters the Aussie’s form has drifted somewhat since then. 20-year-old Musetti is a young player in need of a deep run to regain his once effervescent confidence and he is showing shoots of returning there, with a three-set victory over Hubert Hurkacz at the Rotterdam Open last month a 2022 highlight. The Italian should be able to take this in straight sets once again but his inconsistency makes taking him at outright the sensible option.
