Former world number 19 Karolina Muchova makes a long-awaited return from injury at the Miami Open, with her last tour-level match coming in a first round defeat to Sara Sorribes Tormo at the US Open. The 25-year-old reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon last season and she beat Bianca Andreescu at the Cincinnati Open right before her injury to show what she is capable of but it remains to be seen if she can hit the ground running here against fellow Czech Tereza Martincova. 27-year-old Martincova lost to Paula Badosa in the second round of Indian Wells last time out but the 27-year-old shocked Elina Svitolina in the first round of the Qatar Open last month in three sets. There are more questions than answers surrounding Muchova’s recovery to include this in an accumulator but backing Martincova to win at least a set seems the most sensible option here.
