THE PREDICTION
33-year-old John Millman endured a tough 2022 season with some sporadic highlights but the current world number 148 is far better than his ranking suggests. A comeback victory over Albert Ramos-Vinolas on Tuesday was a solid first tour-level victory of the season for the Aussie but he faces a much tougher Spaniard next up in Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who beat Next Gen ATP Finals champion Brandon Nakashima in straight sets on Monday. 23-year-old ADF reached a first Masters final in Monte-Carlo last year but he otherwise underperformed in 2022 by his standards and this will be an interesting season off the back of it. Davidovich Fokina outlasted Millman in a three-set battle at the Tokyo Olympic back in 2021 in their only previous meeting and backing him to just edge this contest looks the reasonable call.
