World number 23 John Isner best Diego Schwartzman in impressive fashion in the third round of Indian Wells, facing no break points in a straight-sets victory. The 36-year-old faces a big day on court on Wednesday with this blockbuster clash with Grigor Dimitrov followed by a huge doubles clash alongside Jack Sock as they take on Stefanos Tsitsipas and Feliciano Lopez. Isner owns 16 ATP titles to his name, one of which came at Masters level at the 2018 Miami Open.
GRIGOR DIMITROV
World number 35 Grigor Dimitrov beat in-form Alexander Bublik in straight sets on Monday to reach the round of 16 at Indian Wells without dropping a set. The former world number three won his only Masters title at the Cincinnati Open in 2017 in by far his best season on tour that was capped off with an ATP Finals title. 30-year-old Dimitrov reached the semi-finals of Indian Wells last season before losing to eventual champion Cam Norrie.
THE PREDICTION
John Isner and Grigor Dimitrov have met three times before and each time at Masters level, with Isner winning their first meeting at the Miami Open in 2015 and most recent at the Paris Masters in 2017. Dimitrov beat Isner in the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Open earlier in 2017 on his way to his only Masters title. Five of the seven sets played between the pair have gone to a tiebreak and so taking at least one here looks a useful way out of picking a result that could go a number of ways.
