World number three Jessica Pegula’s years of hard work on tour finally paid off late last season when she won her first Masters title in Guadalajara to make a late dash into the WTA Finals. Whilst the American struggled on her debut at the year-end competition she came back fighting in 2023, leading a stacked USA side to victory at the inaugural United Cup with a stand-out victory over Iga Swiatek. 28-year-old Pegula has reached the quarter-finals here in each of her last two seasons and she made the last eight at Roland-Garros and the US Open last year, losing on both occasions to Swiatek.

World number 143 Jaqueline Cristian was offered a protected route through to the first round of the Australian Open after an injury saw her miss half of last season.
