World number three Jessica Pegula could well seal this Sydney Final early if the previous two matches fall in the likelier ways and after a shaky defeat to Petra Kvitova on Friday she has won her last three United Cup matches in singles and doubles. World number 98 Harriet Dart is the clear underdog in this likely crucial rubber but the Brit has played exceptionally well so far in Sydney, beating Maddison Inglis comfortably on Friday before a tight three-set defeat to former world number two Paula Badosa. This does look a step too far, though, against one of the most consistent performers on the WTA tour right now in Pegula but there is the scent of an upset after Dart took the first set in an eventual defeat to the American at Wimbledon last summer. This could come closer than first expected with so much on the line but back Pegula to win outright here, probably in two.
