World number 18 Elena Rybakina looked assured in a straight-sets victory over Elena-Gabriela Ruse on Friday. The 22-year-old reached the quarter-finals of Indian Wells last week before losing to the eventual runner-up Maria Sakkari and she also finished runner-up at Adelaide 1 to Ash Barty back in January. Rybakina won the most recent of her two WTA titles at the 2020 Hobart International.
