World number 60 Marcos Giron came back from a set down to beat lucky loser Federico Coria in an impressive reaction to a late fixture change on Monday. The 29-year-old overcame Richard Gasquet in three tight sets last week before a three-set defeat to a resurgent Alexei Popyrin for some decent headwind coming into Auckland but world number 66 J.J. Wolf will be a tough force to stop. The 24-year-old enjoyed the best form of his career late last year and a first tour final at the Firenze Open before losing to Felix Auger-Aliassime. A straight-sets victory over Adrian Mannarino kicks off should be an even better year for the entertaining American and this looks a tricky result to call in a first meeting with Giron. 29-year-old Giron can often make a game of it even if he ends up losing but Wolf feels like the just-about likelier victor here. Back Wolf to earn at least a set but leave this match well away from an accumulator.
