25-year-old Harriet Dart will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of at least 111th after a career-best ranking win over former world number three Elina Svitolina on Friday. The Brit has already grabbed a great win over Ana Konjuh this campaign after qualifying well but coming back from a set down to beat an out-of-sorts Svitolina is nothing short of exceptional.
KAIA KANEPI
Former world number 15 Kaia Kanepi has been in excellent form this season and she is yet to drop a set at Indian Wells after an upset over Belinda Bencic in the second round. The 36-year-old won the most recent of her four career WTA titles way back in 2013 but she reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open in January before a tight defeat to Iga Swiatek.
THE PREDICTION
Estonia’s veteran Kaia Kanepi has beaten the likes of Angelique Kerber and Aryna Sabalenka so far this season and she came closer than most to beating Iga Swiatek at the Australian Open. Harriet Dart’s career-best victory over Elina Svitolina was vastly impressive but Svitolina can be forgiven for having her mind elsewhere right now and she had form for upsets last season too. The experienced Kanepi knows that she does not have enough time left in her career to take her eye off the prize when in this form and she should be coming through this third round match in straight sets.
