20-year-old Flavio Cobolli claimed only his second ATP tour victory on Tuesday with a straight-sets win over home hopeful Sasi Kumar Mukund in Pune. The world number 171 is another youngster with plenty of potential to come off Italy’s incredible recent production line but this looks too steep a climb against a consummate professional in second-seed Botic van de Zandschulp. The 27-year-old enjoyed an excellent first half of last season, reaching a first tour final at the Munich Open before injury cruelly saw him concede to Holger Rune, but he struggled to maintain that level in the second half and it will be interesting what 2023 has in store.
