World number 76 Federico Coria looked competitive in a three-set defeat to Marcos Giron at the Auckland Classic this week but the Argentine is one of the more ‘specialist’ clay-courters on tour. The 30-year-old did grab a rare hardcourt win in the first round of the US Open over Tallon Griekspoor last season but this looks like Marton Fucsovics’ match to lose in a first meeting between the two. World number 73 Fucsovics, also 30, endured a horrid season last year after initially looking good with back-to-back quarter-finals reached in Rotterdam and Doha but he dipped back into the Challenger circuit in recent months, winning his second title at that level since November in Canberra last week, to build up some confidence. At his best the Hungarian can be a menace to any player on tour, perhaps outside the top six, and he should be able to overcome Coria in three or four sets here. Back Fucsovics to win outright.
