THE PREDICTION

This is a huge opportunity for two young players to reach the round of 16 of a Masters tournament for the first time. 19-year-old Ashlyn Krueger is the more experienced of the two on tour, having con her maiden WTA title at the Osaka Ladies Open last summer, and she will set a new career-high of around 66th after an impressive upset over 14th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova on Friday. 18-year-old Sara Bejlek, however, has won four matches on the spin, having qualified earlier this week, to bring some serious momentum into the third round. The Czech will set a new career-high of around 121st after upsetting Anna Blinkova and, incredibly, Dubai runner-up Anna Kalinskaya in straight sets on Friday but drawing another hungry teenager could prove tougher than an established pro.

Krueger looked good on clay at Charleston earlier this month, taking eventual runner-up Daria Kasatkina to three sets before defeat and winning the Women’s Doubles alongside Sloane Stephens, but Bejlek is on a serious streak. Back Krueger to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance or take this match to see three.

TIP: ASHLYN KRUEGER TO WIN A SET
