Mirra Andreeva put her US Open disappointment behind her with a commanding win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich in Singapore.

The Russian top seed cruised to a 6-2 6-2 success to set up a fifth meeting with Leylah Fernandez after the Canadian sixth seed saw off in-form Alycia Parks 6-4 6-3.

The head-to-head is nicely poised at 2-2 with Leylah winning both previous encounters on hard courts, including a6-1 6-4 triumph in Toronto recently.

The match-up suggests Fernandez’s fast-paced ball can cause problems for Mirra and given how well the Canadian has been playing so far this week, she’s well worth considering for the upset.

That said, Andreeva has such a rock-solid game that it’s often more about controlling her emotions. If she does that, she may well come out on top, but there’s enough quality at both sides of the net to suggest both players could get a set.
