THE PREDICTION

World number seven Stefanos Tsitsipas made it eight wins on the spin with a straight-sets victory over Roberto Carballes Baena on Thursday, building on the surging confidence of winning the Monte-Carlo Masters for a third time last weekend. The 25-year-old had briefly dropped out of the top 10 for the first time this side of the covid-19 pandemic but this clay swing looks set to be a restorative few months on tour – and with few other out-and-out stars on clay he could well be in line for another huge run at Roland-Garros next month.

World number 53 Facundo Diaz Acosta came back from a set down to stun 17th seed Fabian Marozsan on Thursday, backing-up an excellent upset of 15th seed Borna Coric in the second round. The Argentine has enjoyed an excellent breakthrough season so far, including claiming a maiden ATP title at the Buenos Aires Open in February, but this positive, expressive version of Tsitsipas should be too steep of a challenge in their first encounter. Back Tsitsipas to win outright, though, with Diaz Acosta playing well enough to warrant caution.

TIP: STEFANOS TSITSIPAS TO WIN
