World number 52 Dusan Lajovic is one of the tougher players to predict on tour, capable of going on long streaks of form in either category. The 33-year-old enjoyed one of his better seasons in 2023, most notably stunning Novak Djokovic en-route to the Banja Luka Open title on his favoured clay, and he stunned Jannik Sinner at the Cincinnati Masters in August before injury saw him forced out of the last 16. A three-set exit in Adelaide last week to eventual champion Jiri Lehecka looks like strong enough form to back him in this first encounter with 22-year-old Giulio Zeppieri but the Italian qualified without dropping a set to make his Australian Open debut to suggest this will come tighter than it should. Back Lajovic to win outright but consider leaving this one out of any promising accumulators.
