28-year-old Daria Saville continued her rocket-powered rise up the WTA rankings with a bullish performance against Katerina Siniakova on Saturday that ended with the Czech’s retirement in the second set. The Aussie, formerly known by her maiden name Gavrilova, was ranked outside the top 400 before the Australian Open but she is halfway inside the top 200 after reaching consecutive rounds of 16 at Masters events.

23-year-old Lucia Bronzetti will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of 84th after receiving a walkover to the round of 16 at the Miami Open when Anna Kalinskaya retired. The Italian shocked Ajla Tomljanovic in three sets in their first round match and she has since led a charmed life, with Camila Giorgi pulling out of their second round match too. Bronzetti then beat lucky loser Stefanie Voegele in comfortable straight sets.
THE PREDICTION
Daria Saville could well find herself inside the top 40 by the end of the season if she maintains this stunning run of form but this match should be kept well away from an accumulator. The Aussie pulled out of her round of 16 match at Indian Wells last time out citing exhaustion, after so long off the tour, and while she should be in better shape for this winnable fixture its is still not worth the risk. Lucia Bronzetti has led a charmed life so far in Miami but if Saville is fit and firing the former world number 20 can be backed to win this outright.
