30-year-old Constant Lestienne has waited a long time to find the kind of level he is producing on tour now but the Frenchman is now one win away from a first ATP tour final. Lestienne can also break the top 50 on tour for the first time after coming back from a set down to beat Laslo Djere on Thursday but he will face a totally different player in former world number seven Richard Gasquet after the 36-year-old also came back from a set down to oust David Goffin. World number 67 Gasquet has enjoyed an excellent last six months or so on tour, playing like a man who knows his long and illustrious career is coming to end soon, with this his second semi-final reached in four tournaments. This should be a good-natured clash between compatriots but a really tough call considering how well Lestienne has played this week. Gasquet’s gorgeous game is tough to break down when the veteran finds his rhythm and if forced to pick a winner at this stage the one-handed backhand maestro probably edges it. Back Gasquet to earn at least a set here and leave the victor up to chance.
