THE PREDICTION
World number four Coco Gauff made it six wins on the spin in a one-sided victory over Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova on Monday, conceding just three games to the Slovak. The 19-year-old defended a title for the first time last week when she beat Elina Svitolina to the Hobart International trophy, making it four titles won since the start of the hardcourt swing in August, since which she has blossomed ito a true world-beater. Gauff won her first 500 event in Washington, her first Masters event in Cincinnati and her maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open in less than two months last summer to fulfil her promise as a teenager and it will be fascinating to see what she can achieve in her first season as a Grand Slam champion.
25-year-old Caroline Dolehide will break inside the top 40 for the first time after a comfortable opener over Leolia Jeanjean. The American produced a stunning run to the Guadalajara Masters last September to boost her ranking significantly but this first meeting with Gauff looks far too steep of a step-up in quality. Back the fourth seed to win in straight sets.
TIP: COCO GAUFF TO WIN 2-0
