World number 73 Anna Blinkova enjoyed some decent results towards the end of last season and she looks to be starting 2023 in a similar vein after a three-set opening victory over Elisabetta Cocciaretto. The 24-year-old has been ranked as high as 54th and breaking the top 50 on tour this year looks a suitable target. World number 130 Rebeka Masarova should similarly be targeting a first foray into the top 100 after making some good strides on the ITF circuit last year. The 23-year-old certainly looks capable of doing so after stunning second-seed Sloane Stephens in straight sets on Tuesday and she is yet to drop a set this week after coming through the qualifying rounds unscathed. This is a tricky call considering Masaraova’s career-best victory over Stephens but Blinkova has been the steadier of the two over the last few months and the Spaniard now lacks an element of surprise. Back Blinkova to earn at least a set and leave the victor up to chance.
