World number 50 Alison Riske grabbed a great straight-sets victory over Jil Teichmann in the first round of the Miami Open to continue form that saw her best Garbine Muguruza at Indian Wells two weeks ago. The 31-year-old looks set to reach the third round in back-to-back Masters events as she lines up against Alize Cornet, whom she remarkably leads 5-0 in their head-to-head record at tour level. 32-year-old Cornet received a bye to the second round of the Miami Open as the world number 36 but she has lost her last three matches on tour and could probably have done with a kinder opener to get the ball rolling. The Frenchwoman is always capable of a surprise, so backing Riske to win outright here looks the reasonable option and to win at least a set the cautious one.
